Farming After Midnight and Update

Actually, it was only eight o'clock.

The broilers are growing well and they should be ready at the end of May.

We built an awesome feeder that holds almost
four times as much as the other feeder did.
A random picture of me watering the chickens at night.

Strawberry Planting

Today we planted 200+ strawberries.

Here is the strawberry plot before we planted.

Emma came over and helped.
She worked so hard.  Thanks Emma!

To plant strawberries, you first dig a little hole 1ft. apart.
Then, you take the plant and spread the roots out like a fan.
Next we put compost on the plant and cover it back up.
It's not hard, it just takes a while.

Emma had dirt in her eyes:)

Gardening

Daniel has been getting  the garden ready.

We got an abundant amount of compost from a neighbor.

Daniel and a good friend of his have been hauling compost for the garden, and have been having a little too much fun at it.

Baby chicks

On Friday we received 80 baby chicks.  Daniel built a really nice brooder for them that is insulated very well.

It is about 1 foot in the ground in the front and 3 feet in the ground in the back.

All of the chicks are warm, healthy and happy.
